Early Life and Conversion
Pastor Chad Delhotal was born in Dixon, IL and was raised in nearby Franklin Grove. At the age of ten, he was invited by a friend to ride a a bus to a children’s program at First Baptist Church of Amboy. There he heard the Gospel clearly preached. For the first time in his life, he realized that he was not good enough to get to Heaven on his own. After being heavily convicted by the Holy Spirit for the second week in a row, Chad finally responded to the invitation to trust Christ as his Savior and was born again.
Call to the Ministry
At the age of 16, while attending a week-long summer teen camp, Chad was convicted of the need to surrender his life to God. The last night of the camp, he finally relented and determined to follow God’s plan for his life. Soon afterward, God impressed clearly on his heart that he was called to preach the gospel. After graduating from Fairhaven Baptist College, he married his high school sweet-heart LeeAnne Johnson on September 22, 2000. Since then, they have been blessed with four children who are all very active in the ministries of Heritage Baptist.
Previous Ministry Experience
While in college, Pastor Delhotal began traveling home on weekends to work as Youth Pastor and operate a bus route for the church in Amboy. After graduating, he added several other duties including teaching in the Christian school, directing the choir and eventually running the Reformers Unanimous addictions program.
July of 2007, Pastor Delhotal held the first morning service of what would later become Heritage Baptist Church and has been the pastor of Heritage since its founding, September 30, 2007.
Pastor Delhotal’s life verses are Psalm 71:15-16:
“My mouth shall shew forth thy righteousness and thy salvation all the day; for I know not the numbers thereof. I will go in the strength of the Lord God: I will make mention of thy righteousness even of thine only.”
